Sexual pheromones are the important means of sexual attraction and communications at all animals, including humans. They, in many respects, define sexual appeal of women to men, and on the contrary. The most part of sexual pheromones is secreted at the human in nasolabial folds, breasts, anal and genital zones and armholes. These pheromones don't possess smells, but they influence receptors in very small quantities, and through them the functions which control sexual desire, sexual readiness, deep emotions, level of hormones, fertility, care of children, a maturity, aggression or submission, etc.).
Pheromones are easily destroyed in air; they badly get through clothes and their action is easily inactivated by cosmetics. The clean body is the best "supplier" of sexual pheromones.
Approximately 10 % of men have a sexual pheromone in the sweat which makes them especially attractive to women - androsterone. Those who secrete much androsterone are much stronger than those who secrete just a little. Androsterone is secreted by adrenal glands of both men and women; and, probably, by ovaries too. One research has found this hormone in smegma - substance, secreted by sebaceous glands of an extreme flesh of a penis and a small sexual lip of a vagina. In smegma androsterone carries out alarm function, attracting an opposite sex. What is unknown is how the effect of attractiveness works and who exactly is drawn. The established fact is that men who secrete much androsterone are considered more attractive for women, than those who secrete little androsterone. Though it doesn't cause original sexual excitement, but it helps to form love couples.
Female pheromone is called copulin. It is a mix of vaginal acids which are secreted by women in a considerable quantity during an ovulation. Doctor Alex Komfort has assumed that this pheromone especially intensively is secreted by blondes and red.
Sexual pheromones are actively used in the perfume and cosmetic industry (adding the so-called attractants, the odorous synthetic substances similar to the natural sexual pheromones). Experience shows that use of similar means often strengthens appeal at an opposite sex at unconscious level.
